Volunteering Opportunities

Taking care of the animals is a task that one person can not handle alone. Some of the duties involve some grunt work, some involve involve public relations and other various iems. The goal of CAH is to help those who can not speak for themselves. You can help us help them.

Fostering cats and kittens in your home
We always need people to take animals into their homes to provide them a loving environment until they can be adopted. The more experience they have in a good home the better they will fare when they are adopted. Please see the Foster Page for more information.
Assisting at adoption events
We have two events we run each Saturday, plus another we do monthly. Having individuals available to help set-up/breakdown, help handle the animals, and answer questions is critical to the success of these events.

Feeding/watering at the shelter or foster homes
With nearly two hundred cats in the shelter, routine jobs such as refilling food and water bowls can be quite an undertaking. Any help with this, whether it is once a day, once a week, once a month, or once in a while it would be much appreciated.

Animal transportation
We occasionally need someone to bring animals to the shelter from where they were found or to their foster home from the shelter. Transportation to and from adoption events is also often needed.
Handyperson chores at the shelter
There are always items and areas that are in need of up-keep. We are also constantly improving our facilities through remodeling and expansion projects. This opportunity is great for individuals that like to work with their hands.

Fundraising
We currently need people to help by coordinating or participating in our fundraising efforts. We run car wash events, rummage sales of donated items and participate in the WKOW-TV auction. We need help with all of these events so that they go smoothly.
Public Relations Coordination
With the many events that we are involved in there is always need for advertising ideas and development. Individuals in this role would also be welcome to submit articles for and help with our website, newsletter (quarterly), and bulletin boards.

Socializing and grooming the animals
Just because cats are in a shelter doesn't mean they need affection any less. We need volunteers to spend time with them to help them learn to accept humans.
Cleaning at the shelter
In a building with as many cats as we have in the rescue, there are many cleaning jobs large and small that need doing. These range from the daily scooping of litter to more thorough periodic tasks.
Gardening and landscaping
Our shelter just north of Stoughton has flower and vegetable gardens that need planning, planting, and maintenance. We use these gardens to produce products that can be sold to raise money for the rescue.
